A Visit to... The Bookery, Manchester NH

Don't you just love the outside?

This past Saturday Little Bear and I spent the day in New Hampshire with my family. Little Bear is well loved by his grandparents, that's for sure! They all adore the time we get to spend together.

Our visits usually involve good food, Saturday was no exception. Stunningly good crepes at Cafe Java in Derry for breakfast, and ice cream at Ben and Jerry's in Manchester in the afternoon.

Between those delicious foods, we walked down Elm Street for a visit to The Bookery.

The shop itself is adorable, but the day was made even sweeter by it being Little Bear's first time in a bookstore!

I'm totally in love with the honeycomb bookcase, I want one for my house!

What a perfect bookstore. From the moment I entered, I knew I had a new favorite. Curse my living in Massachusetts! If we still lived in NH, I know Little Bear and I would be in there at least once a week. (Father Bear, and Father Bear's wallet, are thanking their stars!) The wooden floors, the lighting, the atmosphere, it's everything a good bookstore ought to be.

I just adore the way they divided the store.

I forgot to take a picture of the kid's room, and I'm kicking myself now! It was just the sweetest, with a fake tree in the middle of the wall that rose up into a leafy green canopy. Little Bear loved that section the most, especially the board books, of which there were many! He always is so captivated looking at all the books lining the shelves. Though there were many choices for him to make, in the end, Grandma and Grandpa got him two books; Little Tug by Stephan Savage (to take home) and Little Bear's Visit (to stay at Grandma and Grandpa's for when he visits.)

Even has a cafe, can this place get any better?

We had so much fun that day, and it seems like Little Bear enjoyed his first trip to the bookstore. I'm hoping it will be the first of many! It's hard to tell with a four month old, but I think he's shaping up to be quite the reader. Or at least, I'm doing my best to encourage him! At this point he likes to covers and when mommy makes the silly sound effects, so I'll happily take it.

Because the only thing better than a book is a book and a hot drink

If you find yourself in Manchester, New Hampshire, make sure you make a trip to the Bookery! It's cute, cozy, and absolutely perfect.

Little Bear and I will be visiting there again soon, that's for sure!
